Where It All Began: the BERO Origin Story
In early , our founder, Tom Holland, decided to try Dry January. One month turned into one year, and the rest is history. It was during that first year that Tom was looking for something that just didn’t exist: a non-alcoholic beer that actually tastes great and looks as high-class as a perfectly poured pint. And so the idea for BERO was born.
It was at a bar that Tom and John met for the first time. We like to imagine it was a dark and stormy night in the middle of October, but in actuality it was a clear spring day in London. While a bar might seem an odd choice for a chat about non-alcoholic beer, that’s kind of the point. We didn’t make BERO to convince anyone of anything. We made it because we wanted the luxury of choice — to be able to drink something that rivaled our favorite beers in the world, without changing our state of mind. Whether you’re punctuating a brilliant day or kicking off a great night, sneaking in a quick nine, or out for a proper good time.
Our brewmaster, Grant Wood, spent the last 40 years mastering the art and science of beer. After an illustrious career running multiple breweries, he retired. But when w
Meet BERO: Tom Holland’s Premium Non-Alcoholic Beer
Tom Holland is swinging into the booming non-alcoholic beer market. And he’s not messing around.
His new venture, BERO, is already grabbing attention for all the right reasons. From its premium branding to its personal backstory, this launch is shaping up to be something special.
But first—how do you pronounce it?
Pronunciation Drama: Bero or B-EER-o?
The biggest drama surrounding the brand so far has been in the way you pronounce their name.
But surely its pronounced like beer? BEE-ro, like the number zero?
I just cant see any other way you could say it? Bear-o? But that doesnt make sense.
It just makes sense that BERO rhymes with zero in this case. But if youre thinking of the old British Bero Book (classic cookbook fans, we see you), rest assured: this is not that!
BERO is here to shake up the alcohol-free beer game, not to give you cake recipes.
Spider-Man’s Sobriety Story (with a Splash of Gold)
Holland’s journey to BERO started back in with a little challenge called Dry January.
What started as a one-month experiment quickly turned into a full lifestyle shift for the year-old actor.
Tom Holland’s New Non-Alcoholic Beer Is Better Than You’d Expect
Abstaining from alcohol has been growing in popularity, thanks to the evolving mocktail industry and celebrities publicly sharing their decision to stop drinking. Spiderman actor Tom Holland is among those stars, revealing to Entertainment Weekly last year that he had stopped drinking to prepare for the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room.
Later in , he opened up even more on the podcast On Purpose with Jay Shetty. Holland discussed the motivation behind his decision and how much it’s impacted his life, his sleep, and his overall mental health. Now, over two and a half years since starting his sobriety journey, Holland is launching his own line of non-alcoholic beer.
Bero is the passion project of co-founders Holland and John Herman. The brand's non-alcoholic beers feature high-quality malts and artisanal methods—but without the buzz you’d expect from a standard brew. Their special technique brews the beer at a higher temperature, which minimizes the amount of alcohol.
Each variety clocks in at less than % alcohol by volume, which means Bero is legally considered to be non-alcoholic. The fermentation
